I am a Person Centred / Humanistic Counsellor, accredited by the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy ( BACP ) with over twelve years counselling experience. I have a specialist qualification (RMN) in Mental Health issues.
My approach to counselling is based on the belief that every one of us has the ability to move in the direction of a more fulfilling and authentic life. During our sessions you will be encouraged to develop your self-awareness. Counselling will assist you in understanding how you relate within yourself and relate to others. This will assist you in becoming more empowered when making decisions about your future.
I offer both short and long term counselling which provides clients with the time and space to explore their thoughts and feelings in a safe, nurturing and non-judgmental environment.
My practice is based in Spetisbury, Blandford Forum approximately a 20 minute drive from Poole town centre. I am conveniently placed to see clients from; Broadstone, Corfe Mullen, Dorchester, Wimborne, Shaftesbury and the surrounding areas.

I work with individuals and couples and offer supervision to colleagues.
My life has been an exciting journey to find my soul’s calling. Following my career as a Dancer, Admin Executive and Fitness Instructor, I discovered Yoga and a more spiritual aspect of life. Following my role of Lifestyle Coach at a Rehabilitation Clinic for Addictions, I trained and qualified in Integrative Counselling. It has been a life-changing journey, but one that I feel very passionate about and privileged to do.
“We all can find meaning and happiness within our limitations”
Everyone has a unique experience of life and my aim is to help people overcome emotional difficulties, to encourage them to see things from a new perspective and to become aware of the choices they have in order to lead a more fulfilling life. I believe that:
we are shaped by our past and environment;
we have freedom of choice;
we are responsible for our own lives;
given the right support we can find meaning and happiness within our limitations.
How I Work
I offer short- and long-term counselling for adults and when appropriate integrate my knowledge of body work and mindfulness. I will provide you with a friendly, safe space to talk about anything you want. I will listen, respect your needs and respond in a way that acknowledges your feelings to help you explore your options. You will not be judged, analysed or told what to do and we will work out together how to move forward in a way suitable for you – one step at a time. I primarily work psychodynamically and relationally with individuals and couples both short term and long term, depending on individual circumstances.
I offer an initial assessment session to explore what you are looking for; whether or nor I might help you or if there might be a preferable alternative for you; whether or not you think I could be of service to you and finally how we could work together.
Supervision of other practitioners is negotiated according to practice and need.
In practice for 30 years, firstly as a counsellor and now a Gestalt Psychotherapist, I have accumulated a lot of skills. My primary aim is to meet the whole unique person in an open and caring way. Initially we see if we are a good fit to go on your journey with you, and the professional relationship between us is the main factor which will make our therapy effective. This is more important than the issues you bring.
My approach is inclusive and I am always interested in finding common grounds among difference, be this with culture, gender, sexuality, ability or age. I constantly find that most people have losses and bereavements, and as an off-shoot I also trained as a funeral celebrant a few years ago and am qualified to conduct a secular or semi-religious funeral. I have also specialized in training and working with survivors of domestically and/or sexually abusive backgrounds, and have also supervised perpetrators in a different context. Most adults will have suffered some trauma in their lives and my approach is to create a safe space to recover.
Whilst my work is mainly with individuals, I also see couples who want to work on their relationships. I can offer clinical supervision for counsellors and psychotherapists although this is based on my long experience rather than formal qualification. I also supervise workers from agencies who use listening skills in caring for people. I am happy to offer therapy to trainee counsellors.
I offer psychotherapeutic counselling for a wide range of issues having had over 24 years of experience working with clients. I initially qualified as a nurse in mental health, and I have worked in the NHS, education and for charitable agencies as well as in private practice.
I work with individuals on an open-ended basis or for an agreed time period, with the aim of enabling you to enhance your life and to live it more fully.
In my role of counsellor, I have worked with people who have experienced a wide range of difficulties including (but not exclusively):
Stress, Relationships, Panic Attacks, Anxiety, Low self- esteem, Bereavement, Pregnancy related losses (miscarriage, post abortion, IVF failure), Depression , Addiction, Eating Disorders, Childhood trauma/abuse, Spirituality, Living with chronic conditions.
I recognise the uniqueness and intrinsic value of each person and their immense potential for growth, the way I work reflects this. My integrative counselling training allows me to tailor my approach to each individual, accounting for clients’ personal preferences, ways of relating, beliefs and values.
With several years of experience of teaching counselling at all levels up to and including level 6 Degree, I am currently teaching on the Diploma in Supervision course and I welcome trainee counsellors seeking therapy for their personal development to meet their training requirements.
I offer an initial 30 minutes free of charge so that you can ask questions and decide whether counselling is the way forward for you.
I also offer clinical and pastoral supervision to counsellors and other caring professions individually or in groups.
